Hearst Tower

The Hearst tower is the world headquarter of the Hearst Corporation, a publication and communication company. It is 182m high (597') and has 46 stories. Actually, the building does exists since 1928 and was only 6 stories high. The tower was added on the old building on 2006. Designed by the famous architect firm Foster & Partners, it is now one of the most recognizable building in New York.

Dessinée par le célèbre cabinet d'architectes Fosters & Partners, elle est désormais l'une des tours les plus remarquable de New York.

Helmsley Building

The Helmsley Building (aka 203 Park Avenue) is 172m high (565ft) and has 35 stories. It is located just in front of the MetLife Building. Built in 1929, it was then the New York Central Railroad Company's headquarter et was named New York Central Building. Later, its name was changed to New York General Building and to Helmsley Building.

Le building Helmsley (alias 230 Park Avenue) mesure 172m et contient 35 étages. Il est situé juste devant le MetLife Building. Construit en 1929, il était alors le quartier général de la New York Central Railroad Company et portait le nom de New York Central Building. Plus tard son nom fut changé en New York General Building puis en Helmsley Building.

Bertelsmann Building

The Bertelsmann Building is a 42 stories skyscraper and is 223m in height (733ft) located in Times Square, New York City. He was built in 1990 and is the north american headquarter of Bertelsmann, the most important european media group. The building is home of the world's largest Virgin Megastore and of a Planet Hollywood.

Le Bertelsmann Building est un immeuble de 42 étages et de 223m de haut situé à Times Square. Il a été construit en 1990 et accueille le siège social américain de Bertelsmann, le premier groupe de média européen. Le plus grand Virgin Megastore au monde et un Planet Hollywood s'y trouvent.

Statue of Liberty/Statue of Happiness

The Statue of Liberty is obviously the world famous monument. It was given to the United States by France in 1886 for the commemoration of the centennial of US independance. In Early XXth century, she welcomed the immigrants who came to the USA to live the american dream. Today, it is the symbole of Liberty all around the world.
A hundred of statues are erected in the world and one in Paris, facing towards west in the direction of the original one. It appeared in many films and was often destructed in sci-fi movies.

La Statue de la Liberté est sûrement le monument le plus connu au monde! Elle a été donnée aux USA par la France en 1886 et commémore le centenaire de l'indépendance des Etats-Unis. Au début du XXè siècle, elle accueillait les immigrants qui venait aux USA pour vivre le rêve américain. Aujourd'hui, elle est le symbole de la liberté partout dans le monde.
Une centaine de statues sont érigées partout dans le monde dont une à Paris, qui fait directement face à l'originale. Elle est apparue dans de très nombreux films et a souvent été détruite dans les films de science fiction.

Manhattan Bridge/Algonquin Bridge

The Manhattan Bridge crosses the East River as well as the Brooklyn Bridge, its neighbor. It is 2.089km long (6,855ft) and rely Manhattan to Brooklyn. Cars, trains, peds and bicycles are allowed on the bridge. Opened on 1909, it is less known than the Brooklyn Bridge.

Le Manhattan Bridge traverse l'East River tout comme le Pont de Brooklyn son voisin. Il mesure 2.089km et relie Manhattan à Brooklyn. Il permet le transport des voitures, des trains, des piétons et des vélos. Ouvert en 1909, il est moins connu que le pont de Brooklyn.

MetLife Building/GetaLife Building

The GetaLife Building is a parody of the MetLife Building. Formerly the Pan Am Building, its height is 247m (810ft) and it was opened on 1963. The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company bought the building from the Pan Am and replace the logo on top when the company shut down its activities. As the other buildings here, it appeared in various films.

Le GetaLife building est la représentation du MetLife Building. Anciennement le Pan Am Building, il mesure 247m et a été ouvert en 1963. La Metropolitan Life Insurance Company a racheté l'immeuble à la Pan Am et a remplacé le logo en haut quand la compagnie a cessé ses activités. Comme tous les autres immeubles dont il est question ici, il est apparu dans de nombreux films.

It appeared in various movies such as Spiderman, Armageddon, Usual Suspects and in many video games (Driver Parallel Lines, True Crime New York City).
